R Restaurant & Bar: the Skytree facing Asakusa

A terrace above Kaminarimon-dori

The Gate Hotel Kaminarimon stands on Kaminarimon-dori, the avenue of the famous Kaminarimon gate, in the heart of Asakusa. The restaurant occupies the 13th floor: a long room lined with picture windows, tables, an eighteen-seat bar counter and an open-air terrace with around twenty covers. Opposite the hotel, the Tokyo Skytree dominates the landscape, above the streets of Asakusa. In the evening, the illuminated tower and the lights of the district make for a spectacular backdrop.

French-inspired cuisine

The menu, renewed with the seasons, has a French base and incorporates local produce: French onion soup gratinée, scallops à la bourguignonne, beer-braised beef, sirloin steak, a charcuterie board or a cheese platter. At lunchtime, starter-main-dessert set menus; in the evening, multi-course menus and wine evenings with free-flowing drinks. By the glass, you can choose from Japanese and international wines, beers, sakes and whiskies. The restaurant also hosts piano and jazz concerts.

Continuous service throughout the day: breakfast from 6.30am to 10am, lunch from 11.30am to 2pm, coffee break from 2pm to 4pm, dinner from 5pm to 10.30pm.
