The Lounge by Aman: the Imperial Palace below
A lantern lounge at the top of Otemachi
The Aman Tokyo hotel occupies the top six floors of the Otemachi Tower, between Tokyo Station and the gardens of the Imperial Palace. On the 33rd, the lounge takes its inspiration from the inside of a shoji paper lantern: a very high ceiling, dark stone walls, large square light fittings, low sofas and armchairs grouped near the windows that rise from floor to ceiling. The view stretches towards the greenery of the imperial gardens and the towers of the centre; on clear days, Mount Fuji can appear in the distance. At nightfall, the lights in the room are dimmed and the lights of the city take over.
From afternoon tea to Japanese cocktails
The lounge is open all day. In the afternoon, it serves an afternoon tea whose theme changes with the seasons; later, the bartenders prepare cocktails based on Japanese spirits: yuzu martini, shochu negroni, whisky sour, old fashioned with Hibiki whisky, or a bespoke cocktail made according to your favourite fruits. The menu also includes sake, wines and rare Japanese whiskies. To eat, an all-day menu mixes Western classics, Chinese and Japanese dishes, bentos and a wagyu burger.
