Marmion: cocktails on the top floor, in the Ostend
A hidden bar on the 5th floor
The Marmion is on the 5th and top floor of the lyf East Frankfurt hotel, in the Ostend, between the Osthafen harbour and the River Main. The room goes for hushed elegance: dim lighting, bentwood chairs with cane seats, retro lamps and, in the centre, a stained-glass counter lit from within.
Outside, a terrace planted with shrubs and green plants runs along the edge of the roof, with its small tables and mushroom lamps. The view takes in the rooftops and buildings of the neighbourhood and, in the distance, the city: a calm setting, away from the bustle of the centre.
A menu of house creations
The menu lists a dozen creations, mostly at €15, such as the Pink Diamonds with gin, Campari and passion fruit, the Street Fighter with tequila and mezcal or the Moon Rider with blackberry and lavender. The Marmion Spritz costs €13 and the alcohol-free cocktails from €10 to €12. Classics are made to order, and a fine selection of wines, champagnes and spirits completes the offer. To nibble on: grilled cheese, olives, nuts. The bar and its terrace can be hired for events of up to 80 people.
Practical information
Open Monday to Thursday from 6pm to 1am, Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 2am; closed on Sundays. Booking by telephone, e-mail or social media messaging. The terrace is best enjoyed in the good season. The Schwedlerstraße tram stop is a two-minute walk away.
