Citybeach: a beach on a car park roof, then the Alps in winter

A roof that changes its look with the seasons

Right next to Konstablerwache, at the eastern end of the Zeil, the big shopping street, the Konstabler car park hides a vast open-air terrace on its 5th level. When the weather is fine, Citybeach unrolls its holiday decor there: wooden decks, pools for dipping your feet, deckchairs, palm trees, daybeds and cabanas, with the forest of towers of the banking district as a backdrop. When summer ends, the roof becomes CityAlm: a wooden chalet, a winter lounge, draught beer and an après-ski atmosphere, then, in November and December, a small Christmas market facing the skyline.

Burgers, cocktails and spritzes

The summer menu focuses on burgers, salads, loaded fries and a large sharing platter. At the bar, the house cocktails cost around €14, from the mango mojito to the Gin Basil Smash, fruit spritzes around €11, and the homemade lemonades come with or without alcohol. In winter, it is time for Kaiserschmarrn, Alpine dishes, mulled wine and punch. The venue can also be booked for company parties, end-of-year parties or private evenings.

Practical information

Open only in good weather. In summer, every day from noon, until 10pm Sunday to Wednesday and midnight Thursday to Saturday. CityAlm takes over from mid-October to the end of the year, in the evening on weekdays and from 2pm at weekends; the roof is closed from January to March. Entry is €5, cash only, in the evening and at weekends (free on weekdays before 5pm and for children under 12); minimum spend for tables, daybeds and cabanas. Online booking. No wheelchair access, no dogs allowed. Access via level 5 of the Konstabler car park; S-Bahn and U-Bahn Konstablerwache, at the foot of the building.
