Lazuli: a terrace among the FOUR towers
On the top floor of a design hotel
On Junghofstraße, a few steps from Goetheplatz, the FOUR complex has added four towers to Frankfurt's skyline. The Kimpton Main Frankfurt, a Bauhaus-inspired hotel, occupies one of them, and its bar-restaurant Lazuli is on the hotel's 5th and top floor. Lapis blue dresses the counter, the banquettes and the terrace tables. The terrace, sheltered by parasols and planters of ferns, is hemmed in by the glass façades of the neighbouring towers: the view is more urban than panoramic, with a glimpse of the skyscrapers of the banking district and a beautiful play of light at sunset.
Small plates and bar cocktails
The food is all about sharing: oysters, bao, yakitori-style beef skewers, salmon sashimi, fish and meat with Mediterranean and Asian accents, with several vegetarian dishes. The bar remains the heart of the place: seasonal creations between €13.50 and €17, classics such as the negroni or the dry martini served ice-cold at around €15.50, and a few pricier champagne cocktails. The space can be hired for a dinner or an evening, terrace included.
