Qomo: dinner and cocktails at the top of the Rheinturm

The revolving restaurant of the Rhine tower

Built between 1979 and 1982 at the entrance to the MedienHafen, right next to the state parliament and the WDR broadcasting centre, the Rheinturm is the emblem of Düsseldorf's skyline on the banks of the Rhine. Two lifts speed up to its panoramic levels at 4 metres per second. At 172.5 metres, the Qomo occupies the revolving crown: 144 seats lined up against the sloping windows, on a platform that completes a full turn in 72 minutes.

A 360-degree view

The panorama scrolls by during the meal: the Rhine and its family of bridges, Frank Gehry's buildings in the MedienHafen, the old town, the Hofgarten and the Königsallee. On a clear day, the view reaches as far as Cologne Cathedral. Sunset over the river is the most sought-after moment, and then the city lights up.

Japanese fusion and a cocktail bar

The cuisine blends Japan and Europe in dishes to share: wagyu gyozas, sushi and sashimi, black cod, lamb chops with teriyaki sauce. The bar can also be enjoyed without dinner, for the time of a drink: signature cocktails from €15 to €19 (Geisha Mule, Kumo Sour, Sakura no Hana), mocktails at €12, and a wide choice of sakes and Japanese whiskies. A few metres below, on the observation platform, the M168 lounge bar serves drinks, coffees and snacks in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Practical information

The Qomo is open every day from 6pm to midnight (kitchen until 10pm), and on Sunday also from 12pm to 4pm. Reservations by telephone every day from 11am, or by e-mail. The ride up is free for Qomo customers; the platform and the M168 bar, open from 10am to midnight, require a ticket (€12.50 for an adult, reduced rate in the morning and after 8pm, card payment only). The restaurant is sometimes closed for private events. Straßenbahn Landtag/Kniebrücke, a few minutes' walk away.
