The roof of the tallest tower in the city centre
The Ruby Luna occupies the former Commerzbank tower on Kasernenstraße, billed as the tallest building in the centre of Düsseldorf. The whole hotel cultivates a décor inspired by the space race of the 1960s, and its roof is logically named the Observatory Bar. You take the lift to the 12th floor, then a staircase leads to the terrace on the 13th, completely open to the sky.
Going round the roof gives an unobstructed view in every direction: on one side the roofs of the Carlstadt and the old town, on the other the Rheinturm, the Rhine and its cable-stayed bridges. At sunset, the television tower stands out against the orange sky, and then the lights of the city take over.
Cocktails, snacks and a relaxed atmosphere
The terrace, decorated with palms, grasses and string lights, serves classic cocktails and house creations, wine and beer, with small Italian-inspired snacks. The atmosphere stays calm, far from the bustle of the Altstadt. The venue is open to everyone, hotel guests or not. Downstairs, the lobby bar operates day and night.
Practical information
Open-air terrace, open in fine weather and depending on the weather: Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 10pm, Friday to Sunday from 3pm to 10pm. It therefore closes early, so it is best to arrive before sunset. Reservations recommended at weekends and in summer. Access by lift to the 12th floor, then a staircase. U-Bahn Benrather Straße (Wehrhahn line) right in front of the hotel; Königsallee and Carlsplatz a few minutes' walk away.
