At the top of the Mediapark
The KölnTurm, a 148-metre glass tower, dominates the Mediapark, an office and media district built around a small lake, north-west of the central station. The restaurant occupies its 30th floor, 110 metres above the ground: a lift takes you up from the tower's lobby. The sober, contemporary dining room is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a terrace opens to the sky when the wind allows.
The panorama takes in the spires of the cathedral, the station, the Colonius television tower, the Kranhäuser on the banks of the Rhine and, on a clear day, the hills of the Bergisches Land. In the evening, the illuminated city stretches as far as the eye can see.
Gourmet dining and cocktails
The menu blends French cuisine with Mediterranean influences: main courses at around €38 to €48, a three-course seasonal menu, lighter set lunches on weekdays. At the bar, classics such as the negroni, the whisky sour or the basil smash cost €13, spritzes €12 and the gin and tonic €13 to €16. Kölsch is served on tap.
Practical information
Lunch Tuesday to Friday from noon to 3pm; dinner Tuesday to Thursday from 6.30pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 6.30pm to 1am; closed on Sunday and Monday. Tables are booked for the dining room only: the terrace opens on the spot depending on the weather and the wind. For a simple drink, no reservation is needed: you can come late in the evening, though it is best to call first as private events are sometimes held. Accessible lifts, underground car park beneath the Mediapark, dogs admitted. Christophstraße/Mediapark station (lines 12 and 15) is a few minutes' walk away, with Hansaring S-Bahn station very close.
