Ilvolo: a hanging nest facing the Eiffel Tower

In the 15th arrondissement, on the rue de Vaugirard side, the Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse hides a bar on its 7th floor. Since the hotel's complete renovation, finished at the end of 2021, Ilvolo has occupied this top level permanently. Its name evokes taking flight, and the bird is its emblem: a structure of interwoven metal, designed like a nest, wraps the bay windows and terraces.
Terraces and a lounge with a view
Inside, colourful armchairs and low tables face the windows; outside, terraces planted with olive trees open onto the rooftops of the 15th, with a clear view of the Eiffel Tower on the horizon and the dome of Les Invalides in another direction. The view is lovely without being dizzying: you stay at building height, which gives the place the feel of a lounge in the sky rather than a lookout point.
Globetrotting cocktails and antipasti
The cocktail list is created by the bar team with Matthias Giroud and is renewed through themed collections; the house best-seller, the Nid de Paris, combines hay-infused gin, elderflower liqueur and cucumber tonic. Expect to pay around €17 per cocktail, according to customer reviews. On the food side, Mediterranean-inspired tapas and antipasti go with the aperitif, and brunch is served at Sunday lunchtime.
Practical information
Ilvolo opens every day at 5pm, until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and until 1am on Friday and Saturday; these hours may vary, so it is best to check before you go. Booking is recommended on 01 40 45 10 47, especially for Sunday brunch, served from noon to 3.30pm. Metro: Vaugirard (line 12).
