Writers Room Bar: the writers' bar, 17 floors above Bloor Street
A Park Hyatt institution
The Park Hyatt Toronto stands on the corner of Bloor Street West and Avenue Road, between Yorkville and the Annex, a stone's throw from the Royal Ontario Museum. For decades, its high-rise bar was a meeting point for the city's writers, poets and journalists: it was here that the Writers' Union of Canada was born. During the hotel's complete renovation, the bar was entirely redesigned and reopened on the 17th floor under the name Writers Room Bar.
A hushed room facing the skyline
The room combines oak panelling, burgundy banquettes, velvet walls and a large fireplace at its heart. The south-facing picture windows frame the view of University Avenue, the downtown towers and the CN Tower, particularly spectacular at dusk. A terrace extends the bar outdoors when the weather allows, while the indoor lounge remains open all year round.
Martinis and finely crafted cocktails
People come above all for the cocktails, prepared with precision and served in classic glassware: martinis shaken in vintage shakers, revisited classics and house creations. The menu also offers spirits, beers and wines by the glass or by the bottle.
