The Chase: a table on the roof of the Dineen Building
A glass pavilion in the heart of the business district
The Dineen Building, a historic brick building on Yonge Street, stands on the corner of Temperance Street, a stone's throw from the towers of the Financial District. The Chase has occupied its 5th floor since 2013: a bright dining room, lined with picture windows beneath a ceiling adorned with chandeliers, and a rooftop terrace. Rather than a sweeping panorama, it offers a close-up view of the neighbourhood's skyscrapers, in a hushed and elegant atmosphere.
Seafood and seasonal cuisine
The menu favours local, seasonal produce from sustainable supply chains. The raw bar offers oysters, caviar and bluefin tuna or kanpachi crudo; these are followed by fish dishes such as grilled sea bass, East Coast halibut or miso-glazed sablefish, as well as roast chicken or a striploin. On weekdays, a two-course business menu is offered at CA$49 at lunchtime.
The afternoon aperitivo
Monday to Friday, from 2pm to 5pm, the “Aperitivo Hour” offers house cocktails at CA$15, wine by the glass at CA$12 and a few bites, from burrata to oysters. Most guests come in smart casual attire, with no strict dress code.
