Bivouac: a front-row terrace in the Quartier des Spectacles
Above Place des Festivals
Bivouac is on the 6th floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal, on Rue Jeanne-Mance, in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. Its terrace of more than 3,500 square feet, filled with flowers, herbs and shrubs, faces Place des Arts and overlooks Place des Festivals: in summer, the outdoor shows of the major festivals take place just below. Armchairs, high tables and quieter corners sit side by side, with around 150 seats.
Boreal cuisine
The menu showcases Quebec's terroir and the flavours of the boreal forest, with seasonal produce: venison carpaccio, scallop ceviche, tuna tartare with spruce oil, butcher's cut or pouding chômeur. The bar offers signature cocktails from $18 to $24, draft beers from a microbrewery, including an IPA under the house label, a wine list and boards of charcuterie, Quebec cheeses or oysters.
A place for all seasons
Unlike many Montreal terraces, Bivouac stays open all year round. Over several winters, transparent heated domes, the "Refuges du Bivouac", have been set up on the snow-covered terrace for multi-course dinners; check before you go whether they are on offer. The restaurant also hosts themed evenings and offers group menus.
