Loop Roof: a hanging garden on two levels
Two green roofs above Meyers Place
Loop began in 2003 as a creative space open to young artists and musicians. The ground-floor space closed in January 2023, but things carry on higher up. On the third level, Loop Roof, created in 2013, combines an outdoor terrace, an indoor bar and a waterproof retractable awning fitted with heaters and misters. One floor up, Loop Top, added in 2019, is entirely open to the sky, with lounge areas, two large umbrellas and a spritz bar. Greenery is everywhere, and the upper roof collects unusual plants: a bottle tree, a tree aloe, prickly pear pads. Both levels face north, above the buildings of the East End.
Garden cocktails and Cypriot cooking
The signature cocktails, around A$26, play on fruit and flowers: passionfruit and white chocolate, gin and hibiscus, mango spiked with Tabasco. The menu also includes beers on tap, craft cans and local wines. In the kitchen, a Cypriot chef prepares Greek and Mediterranean sharing plates: village salad, keftedes, calamari, soft-shell crab bao. The venue remains committed to creativity: screenings, comedy nights and talks are still held on some evenings.
