Fable: the Melbourne skyline from the 13th floor
A Mediterranean lounge atop Lonsdale Street
In the heart of the city centre's Greek precinct, the Greek community's building hides a bar and restaurant on its 13th and top floor, opened in late 2021. The decor draws on the Mediterranean: salmon-pink velvet banquettes, patterned floors, olive trees and a long emerald-green bar. Large picture windows surround the room, and a retractable roof, backed up by heaters, lets guests enjoy the open sky in fine weather and stay dry in winter. The view stretches across a wide sweep of the skyline, especially beautiful at sunset and once the towers are lit up.
Signature cocktails and sharing plates
The signature cocktail list, priced between A$24 and A$28, pairs tequila with blackberry, spiced rum with salted caramel, or whisky with smoked honey; the great classics and a series of martinis round out the list, along with spritzes at A$20. In the kitchen, Mediterranean sharing plates showcase seasonal produce, fish, grilled meats and fresh herbs, with a chef's menu for groups. On Saturdays and Sundays, a five-course brunch with bottomless drinks is offered at A$79 per person, at 1pm or 3pm.
