Fox Rooftop: the return of the former Fox Hotel's roof

A historic South Brisbane pub

On the corner of Melbourne Street and Fish Lane, in South Brisbane, the pub that opened in 1920 under the name The Terminus was long known as the Fox Hotel, famous for its roof and its Sunday sessions. Closed in 2022, this four-level heritage building has been fully renovated and has reopened under its original name, Hotel Terminus. Right at the top, Fox Rooftop takes up the entire top floor: a central bar beneath a mirrored ceiling, banquettes and armchairs, a covered section and an open section. The view stretches over the skyscrapers of the CBD, on the other side of the Brisbane River, and over the South Bank cultural precinct.

Cocktails, international cuisine and Sunday sessions

The rooftop menu offers seasonal plates, reworked pub classics and internationally inspired dishes, to be paired with cocktails, Australian wines and beers. On weekdays, in the late afternoon, the Sunset Sessions invite you to unwind after work. At weekends, singers perform in the afternoon before DJs take over in the evening; on Sundays, the Fox sessions tradition comes back to life with live music followed by DJs. When the roof closes, the night can carry on at the Vixen Room, the cocktail lounge on the lower floors.

Practical information

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from late afternoon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and from noon from Thursday to Sunday, until late; special hours on public holidays. Online bookings available. QPAC, the performing arts venue of the Queensland Cultural Centre, is around 250 metres away, making it a good stop before a show. South Brisbane station and the Cultural Centre bus stop are a few minutes' walk away.
