Lina Rooftop: a beach club on the rooftops of South Brisbane

A pool facing the towers of the city centre

Lina occupies the roof of the Mobo Co Building, at 74-80 Tribune Street, a dozen storeys above South Brisbane. A dedicated lift, marked by the LINA logo on the side of the building, goes straight up to level “R”. Up there, an infinity pool of around thirty metres stretches out facing the panorama: the view takes in, across around 180 degrees, the skyscrapers of the CBD, on the other side of the Brisbane River, and the leafy surrounding neighbourhoods. The white and blue decor, the pergolas and the striped umbrellas evoke a Mediterranean beach club; part of the deck, banquettes included, is sheltered beneath a retractable roof.

Riviera cuisine and poolside cocktails

The indoor restaurant, air-conditioned and glazed, serves a menu inspired by the French Riviera, made up of small plates, large sharing dishes and salads, with banquet menus and a brunch. At the bar, signature cocktails cost A$24 to A$26 and spritzes A$20 to A$22, and the wine list gives pride of place to rosés from Provence. You can book a table in the restaurant, a lounge, a spot on the deck, a sun lounger or a daybed; pool access, open from 11am to 6pm, can be added to the booking for A$25, towel included.

Practical information

Open daily from noon (11am from Wednesday to Sunday); closing time varies, in the late afternoon early in the week and late at weekends: it is best to check before you go. Booking recommended, walk-ins accepted subject to availability. Smart casual dress: no thongs, caps or sports jerseys. The pool deck is restricted to over-18s; families are welcome in the restaurant and the lounge until 9pm. Cashless venue, 10% surcharge at weekends. Wheelchair access. South Brisbane station and the South Bank Parklands are less than ten minutes' walk away.
