A hidden terrace at the top of a central hotel

The Hotel Almudaina occupies a building on Avinguda de Jaume III, the great shopping thoroughfare linking the Passeig des Born to the Paseo de Mallorca. Its front door is so narrow that it is easy to walk past without noticing it. Yet all it takes is the lift to the 8th floor to emerge onto the Sky Bar, a terrace dressed in wood, white sofas and stretched shade sails, with an adjoining glazed lounge for cooler days.

The panorama runs almost 360°: on one side the Cathedral and the bell towers of the old town, on the other the masts of the marina and the Bay of Palma. A balcony lets you gain height over the city, and part of the terrace serves as a solarium with sun loungers.

Weekday menu, cocktails and chill-out music

People come for a glass of cava, a cocktail or a cold beer to a chill-out soundtrack, but also to eat: the Sky Bar serves a weekday menu (starter, main course and dessert for €22.50), a special menu at weekends and on public holidays, as well as a menu of dishes with fusion touches and sharing plates. The atmosphere is relaxed, far from the glitz of some of the city's rooftops, with prices that have stayed reasonable.

Practical information

Open every day from noon to midnight, with an annual closure of a few weeks in January. Free access for non-guests; table booking online or by phone, advisable for the lunchtime menu and at sunset. Relaxed dress code. The hotel is a few minutes' walk from the Born and about ten minutes from the Cathedral; public underground car park on the Paseo de Mallorca, very close by.
