KATAGI Blau: Japanese cuisine and the Bay of Palma on a Platja de Palma rooftop
A restaurant-bar at the top of a five-star hotel
At the eastern end of the Platja de Palma, on the s'Arenal side but still within the municipality of Palma, the Iberostar Selection Llaut Palma faces the sea. Its roof, on the 8th floor, houses KATAGI Blau: a large terrace under a pergola, a glazed room opening onto the horizon and walls covered with vertical gardens. In front, the beach, the palm trees and the whole Bay of Palma; in the evening, the sun sets over the sea.
Sushi, teppanyaki and Sunday brunch
The cooking combines Japanese techniques with local produce: sushi and sashimi, amberjack tiradito with Mallorcan olive oil, gyozas, bao, meat and fish dishes that change with the seasons, and two more affordable weekday menus. The restaurant has been recognised on several occasions for its Asian fusion cuisine. From Wednesday to Sunday, two teppanyaki sittings let you watch the chefs cook on the griddle, and Sunday lunchtime is devoted to brunch. At the bar, classic cocktails at €14, spritzes and gin and tonics, to sip facing the sea; the terrace can also be privatised for events.
Practical information
Closed on Monday and Tuesday. From Wednesday to Sunday, open from noon to midnight; kitchen from 1pm to 3pm and from 6.30pm to 10pm, bar from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, teppanyaki at 7pm and 9pm, Sunday brunch from noon to 3pm. Online booking recommended. Casual chic dress code required (no sportswear or swimwear), experience recommended from age 14, pets not allowed. Free parking. From central Palma, EMT bus line 25 links the Plaça de la Reina to the Platja de Palma and s'Arenal.
