On the seventh and top floor of the Guinness Storehouse, in the Liberties district, the Gravity Bar surrounds its visitors with a ring of glass, 46 metres above the streets. The 360° panorama sweeps from the Dublin Mountains to Howth Head. You go up with a visit ticket, which includes a pint of Guinness to drink facing the city.

Gravity Bar: Dublin in 360° at the top of the Guinness Storehouse

The crown of the former vat house

West of the centre, in the Liberties, the St James's Gate brewery has been making Guinness since the 18th century. Its former fermentation building, a steel-framed structure from the early 20th century, now houses the Guinness Storehouse: a self-guided visit over seven levels, devoted to the ingredients, brewing and the history of the brand. The tour ends right at the top, at the Gravity Bar, a circular room of glass and steel set on the roof, designed to evoke the head of a pint.

Here, there is no terrace: the windows run all the way round the room. The eye plunges over the brick roofs of the Liberties and the brewery buildings, then takes in the whole city, from the Dublin Mountains to the south to Howth Head to the north-east.

A pint facing the city

The basic ticket, from €24 per adult when booked online, includes a Guinness or a Guinness 0.0 served at the bar. Other packages add a workshop to learn how to pour your own pint, a guided tour or a tasting, some of them for over-18s only. To eat, you have to go back down to the fifth level, where the restaurants are grouped together, including a brasserie serving oysters and Guinness beef stew.

Practical information

Access only with a Storehouse ticket, to be booked online for a time slot. Open every day, during the daytime: the first slots start at 9.30am or 10am depending on the day, the last ones in the late afternoon, and times sometimes change, so it is best to check them when booking. Allow two to three hours for the visit. The building is fully accessible, lifts included. Luas red line, James's stop, a seven-minute walk away; Heuston station is a quarter of an hour's walk away. The room can also be hired for receptions.
