A roof terrace in the heart of the old town

The Mandarin Oriental, Munich stands on Neuturmstraße, in the Altstadt, a few minutes' walk from Marienplatz and Maximilianstraße. Its roof terrace, long known as the Mahjong Roof Garden, is now home to the Munich Sushi Club. The space brings together a terrace, a lounge area, a dining room and a lounge beside the hotel pool. The panorama takes in Munich's rooftops, with the towers of the Frauenkirche and, on clear days, the Alps on the horizon. The venue is also suited to private or semi-private events.

Sushi, champagne and cocktails

The menu, designed with the hotel's Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa, revolves around sushi: classic maki rolls from €14 to €18, nigiri from €8 to €10, crispy tacos with avocado, salmon or tuna, edamame, yellowtail jalapeño and spicy tuna salad, with a few more luxurious dishes such as wagyu or caviar. As for drinks, cocktails cost €21 to €26 (Yuzu Margarita, Pornstar Martini, Miso Colada), alcohol-free cocktails €20, a glass of Veuve Clicquot from €26 and Bavarian beer €10. A minimum spend applies and payment is by card only.

The Munich Sushi Club is a seasonal rooftop: it opens in the warmer months, from May, and closes in winter; opening periods depend on the weather. Bookings online or by phone on +49 89 29098 820.
