La Suite Girafe: a lofty apartment facing the Eiffel Tower
The curator's former apartment
In the Palais de Chaillot, the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine hides on its ninth and top floor a residence that, in the 1930s, belonged to the museum's curator. The Paris Society group has transformed it into a restaurant, a more intimate extension of Girafe, the seafood brasserie located lower down in the same building. Interior architect Joseph Dirand created an Art Deco-inspired decor: tobacco-coloured wood panelling, elm burl, stone, brown velvet and red marble.
A terrace face to face with the Iron Lady
The indoor lounge, covering around 130 m², opens onto a terrace of some 230 m² lined with hedges and lanterns. Above the Trocadéro gardens, the Eiffel Tower stands directly opposite, with the dome of Les Invalides and the Tour Montparnasse in the background. Terrace service depends on the weather.
Seafood cuisine
As at Girafe, the menu gives pride of place to seafood: shellfish and crustacean platters, oysters, tuna or yellowtail crudo, lobster ravioli, whole fish depending on the catch, not forgetting a beef fillet or a tomahawk steak to share. House cocktails are priced at around €20 to €22, and the wine list puts the spotlight on champagne. The venue can be hired for receptions, for up to 110 people for a standing cocktail event.
