Les Ombres: dinner in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower
A restaurant set on a museum roof
On the banks of the Seine, the musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac was designed by Jean Nouvel, who also created the restaurant on its roof terrace. Les Ombres occupies a large, fully glazed dining room beneath a metal framework, opening onto a terrace planted with Mediterranean species, in the manner of a hanging garden.
The Eiffel Tower next door
The Eiffel Tower rises right alongside: by day, its iron lacework traces shadows on the tablecloths. In the evening, the illuminated monument makes its way into the dining room, and during dinner the ceiling turns into a starry sky every hour, echoing the sparkle of the Iron Lady.
Cuisine between brasserie and creativity
The menu combines great Parisian brasserie classics with more technical recipes, using produce from responsible fishing and farming. At lunch, two set menus are offered at €48 and €65; in the evening, as well as for weekend and public holiday lunches, the menus rise to €98 and €118, drinks not included. You can also simply come up for a drink: in autumn and winter, the bar serves its signature cocktails on the terrace in the early evening, without a booking, weather permitting.
The restaurant can be booked for a private seated dinner for up to 130 guests or a cocktail reception for up to 270 people.
Practical information
The restaurant is open every day, from noon to 2pm and from 7pm to 10pm; booking is recommended. The entrance is at 27 quai Jacques Chirac. Take the RER C (Pont de l'Alma) or the metro (Alma-Marceau, line 9); the Saemes Quai Branly car park is just a stone's throw away.
To see the Eiffel Tower up close while you dine, Les Ombres remains a rare find.
