Nonna Gioia: la dolce vita on the roof of the JOST Hôtel
A rooftop with a pool overlooking the station
In the Saint-Roch station district, the JOST Hôtel combines rooms, dormitories, a restaurant and karaoke. On the eighth floor, Nonna Gioia takes over the roof terrace: a long wood-edged pool, red-and-white striped banquettes, pergolas covered in climbing plants and an indoor bar with red shelves. The bar and terrace are not restricted to hotel guests.
Montpellier in 360°
From the railing, your gaze sweeps all the way around the city. On one side, the tiled roofs of the historic centre and the tall spire of a church stand out against the hills of the hinterland; on the other, the recent buildings of the newer districts. The show reaches its peak at sunset.
Spritz, cocktails and antipasti
Italy sets the tone. The spritz bar offers seven versions at €11, from the classic Aperol to the house spritz made with Picon. Signature cocktails, mules and classics are €12, and mocktails €9. On the food side, there are antipasti to share: bruschetta, arancini, burrata, pizzetta, lasagne or a cheese and charcuterie board, followed by tiramisu.
The pool remains the preserve of hotel guests, except during the Sunday pool parties held in summer 2026, open to all for an entry fee of €20 including one drink, with a different DJ every week. The rooftop can also be hired privately for corporate evenings or parties.
Practical information
Nonna Gioia is seasonal: it reopens every spring and closes in the autumn. In 2026, the season began on 25 April; reopening is announced for spring 2027. In season, the rooftop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm. Tram lines 2 and 4, Rondelet stop; Saint-Roch station is about ten minutes' walk away.
A lively, affordable spot for a sky-high aperitif above Montpellier.
