Sunsets Rooftop: a desert oasis facing the skyline

On the roof of the Linton Apartments

In the residential neighbourhood of Kangaroo Point, on the bank opposite the city centre, Sunsets occupies the roof of an apartment building on Linton Street. It is reached through the building's reception. The decor proudly embraces the spirit of a desert oasis: sand-coloured tiles, low linen sofas, woven lampshades, whitewashed timber and cactus gardens. Part of the space is sheltered beneath a pergola, while the rest is open-air behind glass balustrades. The view takes in the towers of the CBD and, on another side, looks straight down into the Gabba stadium.

Tropical cocktails and sharing plates

The cocktail list plays up fruit and citrus, with margaritas, martinis and house creations from A$22 to A$25, spritzes and a small alcohol-free selection. In the kitchen, the inspiration is Mediterranean: seafood, grilled dishes and mezze to share, as well as sharing menus for two or more people. On Sundays, a two-hour package combines a banquet with bottomless drinks.

Practical information

Open from Thursday to Sunday from noon. Online bookings for up to eight people; some tables depend on the weather. Smart casual dress, fancy dress not allowed; on Saturdays and Sundays after 3pm, entry is restricted to over-16s. Surcharge on Sundays and public holidays. Wheelchair access via the rear lift of the visitor car park. On match days at the Gabba, parking becomes very difficult in the area: it is best to come by public transport or rideshare.
