Salón 1923: a drink in the paradise of the Palacio Barolo

An ascent through the Divine Comedy

On Avenida de Mayo, in the Monserrat neighbourhood, the Palacio Barolo was conceived as an architectural transposition of Dante's Divine Comedy: the basements and ground floor represent Hell, the middle floors Purgatory and the top Paradise. To reach the bar, you take one of the period lifts up to the 14th floor, then climb two floors by spiral staircases. At the top, two open-air terraces share the view: the Terrazzo Obelisco, facing east towards the centre, and the Terrazzo Congreso, facing west towards the Congreso building, ideal at sunset. Just above rises the Barolo's tower, whose lighthouse lights up and turns at night above the rooftops.

Tapas, cocktails and Roaring Twenties decor

Inside, the Spazio Interiore recreates the aesthetic of the Roaring Twenties: buttoned banquettes, geometric wallpaper, a marble bar counter and portholes opening onto the city; the staff wear period outfits and the music follows the same theme. The kitchen focuses on tapeo: pastries, eggs and cakes in the morning, then platters of cold cuts and cheeses, croquettes, salads and small plates, with vegan and gluten-free options. At the bar, classics and house creations with names inspired by the palace and by Italy, Argentine wines and aperitifs.
