The Standard, Ibiza occupies a corner of the Passeig de Vara de Rey, the tree-lined promenade in the centre, a few minutes' walk from the port and the ramparts. Its roof, named UP, covers about 450 m²: a long glass-edged pool, sun loungers, a pergola draped in climbing plants and an open-air bar sheltered by parasols. Directly opposite, the old town of Dalt Vila climbs its hill up to the cathedral; on the other side, the eye wanders towards the marina and the rooftops of the town. Few hotels on the island offer a perched pool like this one, and it is the pool that gives the place its holiday feel, right in the heart of town.

Latin cuisine, sushi and cocktails

The menu draws on the flavours of Latin America and comes with a sushi counter, served at lunch and dinner alike. For drinks, around eight house cocktails, most of them at €16, sit alongside sangrias to share, Spanish and international wines and a long list of champagnes. In the late afternoon, music sets accompany the sunset and the roof takes on the air of a meeting point before heading out on the town, while dinners linger on under the stars.

Practical information

A seasonal rooftop, open in the warmer months and closed in winter. Access is restricted to over-18s, whether or not they are hotel guests. Online booking recommended, especially at sunset; the roof also welcomes groups and can be booked privately for an event. Entrance through the hotel, Carrer de Bartomeu Vicent Ramon 9, right in the centre: the port, Dalt Vila and Vara de Rey are all within walking distance.
