The Deansgate: terraces on the roof of a historic pub
A 19th-century pub at the foot of the skyscrapers
Opened in the mid-19th century as the Crown Inn, The Deansgate can be recognised from afar by its green and cream tiled facade set against red brick. It occupies a well-placed corner at the southern end of Deansgate, right next to the Beetham Tower and Deansgate Locks. Inside, you will find the atmosphere of a traditional pub, with its wooden bar, its banquettes and its screens for sport.
Two terraces on the roof
The venue's trump card is right at the top: two terraces laid out on the roof, with wooden tables, banquettes, string lights, awnings and heaters that let you stay out when the weather turns. There is no great height here, but a close-up view of the Beetham Tower and the neighbouring glass towers, which makes the place so charming when the sun comes out.
The menu remains that of a pub: classic dishes, desserts and a Sunday roast, to go with a draught beer. Big matches are shown on screen, music nights and quizzes liven up the week, and dogs are welcome. Two private rooms, the Green Room and the Blue Room, host parties and meetings.
