20 Stories: the terrace perched above Spinningfields
At the top of No.1 Spinningfields
In the Spinningfields business district, between Deansgate and the River Irwell, 20 Stories occupies the roof of the No.1 Spinningfields tower, on Hardman Square. A lift takes you up to a space that brings together a restaurant, a cocktail bar and a terrace. All around, large windows and glass balustrades let the view stretch out over the rooftops of the centre, the office towers and the brick buildings of Manchester.
A tree-lined terrace
The terrace is the centrepiece of the venue: trees two storeys high, a lounge bar under a canopy of greenery and garden sofas facing the panorama. Walk-ins are welcome for groups of up to five; the outdoor tables cannot be booked, and larger groups need to send a request to the team. Inside, the restaurant serves modern, seasonal British cuisine, with fish and seafood from the British coast, meat and local produce, as well as an afternoon tea and a bottomless brunch on Saturdays. At the bar, signature cocktails cost £16 to £19 and spritzes £16. DJs take over on Thursday and Friday evenings and from the afternoon on Saturdays.
Practical information
Open daily from noon; closing time varies from day to day, so it is best to check before you go. Online booking for the restaurant, for up to 12 people; no dress code is enforced. Card payments only, dogs welcome. Children are allowed in the restaurant but must leave the bar area at 6pm. In summer, an entry fee may be charged in the evening.
