Top of the Gate: the Potomac and the Kennedy Center in 360 degrees
The Watergate's roof, facing the river
The Watergate Hotel is part of the famous complex with curved facades on Virginia Avenue, set on the banks of the Potomac between Foggy Bottom and Georgetown. Its roof has been turned into an open-air lounge: woven armchairs and sofas, fire tables, braziers and boxwood planters line a terrace open to every horizon. On one side, the Kennedy Center and the Potomac, spanned by the Key Bridge and the Arlington Memorial Bridge, with the Virginia shore opposite; on the other, the Washington Monument and the city's silhouette. Sunsets over the Potomac, when the sky is reflected in the water, are among the venue's highlights.
Bites to share and seasonal cocktails
The menu is made up of small plates for sharing, such as flatbreads, crispy chicken, whipped feta or chips and caviar, served with seasonal cocktails made with premium spirits, house cordials and aromatic herbs. A selection of wines and a reserve of rare spirits round out the offering. During the season, DJs liven up the golden hour, sometimes with fresh oysters.
The roof can be reserved in whole or in part for a private event, and riverside spaces are offered to groups of twenty or more.
