The roof of The Morrow

Between NoMa and Union Market, the fast-changing area north of Union Station, The Morrow Hotel occupies a modern building on M Street NE. Its roof was previously home to the Upstairs at The Morrow bar; it now houses Sly, one of the venues the hotel has entrusted to a renowned chef's restaurant group. The space combines an indoor lounge and a terrace: orange rope armchairs, concrete coffee tables and fire pits face the neighborhood's rooftops, where a water tower stands out, and the city skyline, superb at golden hour.

Fruity cocktails and small plates

The menu favors light bites and sharing plates, with a seafood focus, served in the evening from 4pm. The cocktails lean indulgent, from the lychee martini to the blackberry old fashioned, with espresso martinis on draft; spirits, wines, local beers and seasonal creations round out the bar. On Saturday and Sunday, brunch is served from the morning.

The roof can be booked privately for events, and the hotel is also home to a restaurant from the same group on the ground floor.

Practical information

Open Tuesday through Thursday from 4pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 11pm, and Sunday from 4pm to 10pm; brunch Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 3pm; closed Monday. Online reservations are available. NoMa–Gallaudet U station (Red Line) is about 150 meters away; Union Market is around ten minutes' walk.
